DEATH of a SCULPTOR ; in Hue, Shape and Color NEW from M.C.V. Egan

“Murder, sex, and jealousy create a potpourri of pleasurable reading with fascinating characters and an intriguing plot.”

Prudy Taylor Board, author of 101 Tips on Writing and Selling Your First Novel, A Grave Injustice and Murder a la Carte.

Color-coded love stories and revealing female anatomies lead to the puzzling death of world-renowned sculptor, Bruce Jones.
In life, the artist loved women, almost as much as women loved him. Adored for his art, colorful personality, and sexual prowess, Bruce is mourned by the world. The multifaceted perspectives of his four ex-wives, the current wife, his new love interest, and their children narrate this pulse-pounding tale.
Loose ends are tied up by the insights of Sylvia, his son Aaron’s wife and a trusted keeper of secrets; Scott, the private investigator and family friend; Nonna, the quintessential grandmother everyone loves but to whom few are truly related; and Detective Jim Miller who will not rest until he discovers Bruce Jones’ murderer.

MIDNIGHT Forgotten Divinity #2 by Kristy Centeno

Excerpt #1
The demon growls in frustration, shaking the wounded hand as if to clear it of pain. His midnight eyes glance up at me with undisguised menace.
“Hunter,” he manages to growl.
I pay attention to his face, spotting a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and two sunken eyes with dark circles underneath, and a jaw that juts forward in an abnormal manner as he glares down at me. He’s ominous and pissed off. Not a good combination.
“Get out of here, Dex,” I shout at my informant, not once ungluing my eyes from the figure five feet from me.
“Daya.” The demon’s lips curve up into the most sinister grin I’ve ever seen. “The fallen Angel.” He laughs, but the gesture lacks mirth. “You know what I find ironic?”
I hold off on replying, not really interested in anything he has to say.
“The hunter has become the hunted.” He closes and opens his fist, making his discomfort apparent.
He knows who wants me dead. This has my attention.
Excerpt #2
“Do you honestly believe what we felt for each other was a mistake?”
“It was. That’s why we were castigated.” It was a sin of the worst kind.
Mason shakes his head. “I refuse to believe that. I may not remember what happened, but there’s one thing I’m sure of.” He draws me to him and wraps his arms around my waist, anchoring me to him. “What we felt for each other wasn’t wrong. Anything so right couldn’t have been immoral.”
His lips are on mine before I can think to oppose or argue that his point of view is wrong. The fighter in me urges me to knee him in the groin and follow with a beat-down, but I end up struggling for a moment before relenting. He’s determined to seduce some sense into me and I’m running out of will to keep from trapping myself in this mind game. Whether his intention is for me to trust him or he simply wants to help me through the monster of doubt eating away at me, I don’t know. Nor do I care.
I allow him to take me beyond my grief and into a sweet, almost painful harmony. The fight goes out of me and what few reservations remain melt away with a quick stroke of Mason’s tongue. Every feeling of helplessness evaporates with each term of endearment that escapes his half-open lips as he alternates between kissing my mouth, face, and neck. I yield to him, our caresses becoming more fervent and urgent with each passing second.
Two dark worlds...One night that will change their lives forever...Where evil lurks, only goodness can prevail.
Acclaimed author Kristy Centeno, and Bestselling author of The Star Child series, Stephanie Keyes, bring you two stories "Shadows" and "The Boy In The Trees" that prove love and light can overcome the pain and shadows. With secrets hidden in the night, and dangerous creatures prowling the woods, trusting the enemy can mean either life or death.

About The Book

Never say what love can't—or won't—do.

Balloon Artist Gadiya Lassiter never imagined waking up without the love of her life, small-town fire chief Nico Dupree. Then one day, it becomes her tortured reality. Fast-forward two years…he's back and making his intentions to rekindle their flame known. But she vows to never love him again. As determined as she is to keep her heart out of his hands, love seems to have its own agenda.

For Nico, returning home to Mount Pleasance, North Carolina is not without its benefits. The most valuable, Gadiya. He’s determined to reclaim her heart—despite her obvious goal to hate him. But he’s not giving up on her; not again. He’ll just have to convince her the disdain she harbors for him is far less potent than the love he knows she still has for him. And he'll do it one scorching kiss at a time.

As their attraction grows hotter and hotter, will Gadiya be able to escape the flames, or will Nico's fire consume her?

EXCERPT

You are an average of the five people you spend the most time with. Jim Rohn

Think about this for a moment.  If you are watching the news every morning and every night before bed, you are bookending your day with negativity. The news is designed to instill fear in its audience. The media hooks us in and creates a desire in us to watch more. Social media is not much better. We constantly sit at our computers or on our phones and get caught up. We look at a few articles or catch up with an old friend, and suddenly we have fallen down a two-hour  long rabbit hole of the political and social ranting of “friends. Even the office isnt safe. We go to the break room to get a coffee, and the next thing you know we are engaged in water cooler gossip about the receptionists bad haircut or the boss whos cheating on his wife. Even our private social lives can be a hotbed  for negativity. Our best friends tell us how terrible their marriages are, and we quickly find ourselves comparing stories about whose spouse is the most awful.
If we surround ourselves with negativity, it seems to seep into our spirits by osmosis. Soon, we let the uncontrollable events on the morning news run our emotions for the entire day. We feel we have to out- do our friends negativity with the negativity of our own. We get sucked into gossip and social media, and let other peoples problems affect our personal peace.
I remember watching a news story several years ago about the Chinese stock markets falling. The newscaster was in a panic, and so were the people he was interviewing.  They were predicting  major international fallout from this one-day drop. I took that panic with me to work that day. I was anxious, irritable, and short-tempered. Finally, a co-worker asked me what was wrong. I answered that thChinese stocks had crashed, and our economy was going to take a punch  for it. He laughed. It pissed me off, actually. I asked how he could be laughing when the economy was going to shit.
He asked, Kelli, do you own Chinese stock? I said I didn’t. He asked me, Is this going to affect you directly? After thinking about it, I said it probably would not. Then he smiled and asked, Can you control any of this? He was right. I laughed, then, too.  I realized in that moment how worked up I had gotten over a fear-induced news story. None of it mattered. In the bigger picture of life, family, love, and all things important to me, the Chinese stocks falling for one day didnt matter one bit. After taking back control over my own thoughts, my day turned out to be much better.
We cant let people steal our happiness. People in this case include the media, our friends, coworkers, neighbors, social media, family, etc. Joy is a precious thing, and if you find yours being threatened by certain people or things, take a good  look at where it is coming from and make the necessary adjustments. Decrease the time you spend with negative friends, cut back or eliminate the news you ingest, leave the room when the conversation turns to gossip, limit social media, and unsubscribe from negative news feeds. In general, eliminate the things that produce fear, judgment, or insecurity in you.

Action Steps

  1. Try something different. Eliminate or severely limit your intake of negative people, news, social media, and gossip for the next several days, and see how  you feel. I stopped watching the newcompletely in early 2015, and I have not regretted that decision. If you cant stay away, deactivate your social media accounts for a while.
  2. Replace the negative with positive. Hang around more positive people over the next few days. Read only positive news stories. Read inspirational quotes and books. Print out spiritual passages or write out uplifting quotes (Pinterest is a great source for inspiration), and put them on your walls, desk, or your screensaver. Surround yourself with positive people, places, and things.
  3. Determine if the event that has you concerned is something you can control. If the situation is something you can control, then take the small steps necessary to make the change. If its something you can influence, talk to the right people or do what you can to influence the situation. Take the first step, and do something. If you decide it is something you cant control, do your best to acknowledge your lack of control over the situation, accept the situation as it is in this moment, and let go of the worry around it.
  4. Over the next few days, listen to the words you speak and the stories you tell. Are they mostly negative? Mostly positive? Become aware of which group you fall into. Are you the negative person in the group or on social media? Are you the one bringing negativity into the office? If so, realize this and make adjustments to stop spreading negative energy.
