Expendables
The Wall Series Book 1
by Alison Ingleby
Genre: YA Dystopian

One girl. A corrupt government. A secret that could shatter a country.

★★★★★ “I haven’t been this hooked on a dystopian series since The Hunger Games and Divergent.”

What would you sacrifice to discover the truth?

For twelve years, Aleesha has survived as an illegal citizen in poverty-stricken Area Four. She lives by one rule – trust no one.

When her illegal status is discovered, Aleesha is forced to join a mysterious organisation intent on taking down the corrupt government. Then she’s introduced to Trey, an Insider who’s been brought up with everything she longs for: wealth, privilege, education.

An Insider who, like her, is being hunted by the government’s sinister militia.

Aleesha wants to hate him. But Trey may be the only person who can help her find her father – the man who could be her ticket out of poverty. If she can learn to trust him.

But discovering the truth comes at a terrible price. And too late, Aleesha and Trey realize that they’re just pawns in a much bigger game…

From USA Today Bestselling Author, Alison Ingleby, The Wall Series is an emotional rollercoaster packed with heart-pounding adventure, vivid characters and slow-burn romance. Perfect for fans of Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth and Marie Lu.

Infiltrators

They thought the truth would bring people together. Instead, they started a war.

When Aleesha and Trey hand over the secret files they found in the basement of the government headquarters to the media, they hope it will bring Insiders and Outsiders together. United, they would have the power to rebel against the oppressive government.

They're wrong.

While the Insiders turn their backs, protected by the Wall that divides the city, Outsiders rebel in the only way they know how: riots, death and destruction.

As London erupts in violence, taking down the government's sinister militia seems to be the only viable course of action. But what Aleesha finds inside the Metz compound will change her life – and her relationship with Trey – forever.

Join Aleesha and Trey as they fight for truth, justice and freedom in dystopian London. With fast-paced action, romance, danger, intrigue and one kick-ass heroine, you won’t want to put it down!

Defenders
The Wall Series Book 3

The battle for control of Area Four is over. Or is it?

Aleesha is determined to give the captured Metz officers a chance to change. But as tensions rise between Outsider gangs and the newly freed officers, events take a devastating turn and Aleesha is forced to confront her darkest fears.

Still reeling from the battle of Rose Square, Trey has his own decision to make. Does he remain Outside or listen to his mother's pleas and return to his family's aid?

Forced to decide between family and friends, duty and their hearts, Aleesha and Trey must decide which path to choose and if that path involves each other.

The explosive third book in The Wall Series features complex plot twists, heart-stopping fight scenes, romance and betrayal, plus all the characters you've come to love. Will they all survive? One-click to find out.

★★★★★ "I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one!"

Liberators
The Wall Series Book 4

When it comes down to it, what do you do – protect your family or follow your heart?

Captured by the government, Aleesha is slated for execution. Only her father can save her, but doing so will put the Chain's plans in jeopardy. Is it worth risking the future of a country to save the life of one girl?

As Trey investigates the mysterious additive in the Outsiders' food supply, his sinister boss closes in. Acting on his suspicions could risk his incarceration and his family's safety. But can he turn a blind eye to the truth?

As the balance of power shifts and alliances are made and broken, Aleesha and Trey must decide who to trust.

Because trust risks betrayal.

And betrayal means death.

Discover a Hero from WWII in the Dutch resistance. Recommended Read

WW II an era rife with hatred, bigotry, and war crimes it
is easy for heroes to fall through the cracks of history. Thus, THE OLD GILT
CLOCK unveils the heroism of Willem Arondeus; a Dutch artist and author. Member
of the Dutch resistance movement during said War.
From his painful birth on 22 August 1894; causing
detachment and rejection from his mother, His self-discovery as a homosexual,
completely incompatible with the views of his abusive drunken father.
Culminating with his execution by the German Nazi Regime on 1 July 1943. We
feel Willem’s pain, confusion, and growth. The prose in this book is powerful
and beautifully crafted. As a result, while reading I felt very connected to
the character. The book brilliantly parallels Hitler’s life as well as well-known
and lesser known historical events.
This gave me as a reader a clear sense of the historical
timeline and an awareness of some historical data I did not know. By following
his life, we see the buildup and growth of prejudice and bigotry, that affected
the world in both world wars.
Willem Arondeus was a homosexual man, in an era that placed
him as unacceptable in a society that murdered so many. His understanding of
suffering is key to propel the need to protect the Jewish people of Holland,
risking and eventually losing his life.
The way words are woven so beautifully, had me re-reading
here and there, as some of the lines were poetic. Inasmuch as knowingly reading
a book with a guaranteed sad ending, the author manages to shed power of love
and light in Willem’s journey through self-love, self-acceptance and the
friendships he forges.
As WWII celebrated 75 years of ending in Europe sealed
archives and information is revealed, I hope Paulette Mahurin and other
Historical Authors will continue to unveil forgotten heroes and moments.

The Truth About Night by Amanda Arista Genre: Paranormal Mystery

  • You’ve been given the honor of naming a planet, what would you name it?

Aristonia. Its pretty.
  • If you were in a rock band what would the name of your band be? What would your rocker name be?
The Shifters, and I’d be Pantherista.

  • Aliens have landed on the planet. What are the three things you would tell them that are great about this planet?
Chocolate brownies, Shakespeare, and honey suckle (but watch for the bees)

  • You have been locked in a mall and told you can get anything you want and when they open in the morning you won’t have to pay a single cent. What stores would you hit? Better question how would you haul away all your loot?
I’d go for diamonds. Girls got to have sparkle. And maybe a Coach tote to carry it all in, because they are bigger on the inside.

The Truth About Night
by Amanda Arista
Genre: Paranormal Mystery

As an investigative journalist, Merci Lanard has an uncanny knack for getting the truth out of people, a talent she uses to expose the real story behind her city’s most gruesome crimes.

Until one night, when her partner, Ethan, is killed.

Reeling from shock and grief, Merci vows to track down his murderer. As she starts digging, she meets Ethan’s estranged brother, Rafe, who agrees to work with Merci to find his brother’s killer. She soon discovers Ethan had been hiding things from her, mainly that he was a Shifter and had a whole life in a supernatural world she knew nothing about.

A Shifter himself, Rafe introduces Merci to magic she never knew existed. As they work together to uncover hidden connections between Ethan's murder and a series of strange dead bodies, they find themselves in the crosshairs of a turf war for the soul of the city.

If Merci is to have any hope of saving her city, she will have to face the truth about this war, the truth about this new magical world, and the truth about who she truly is.

The Otto Digmore Series by Brent Hartinger

The Perfect Antidote to Book Piracy
By Brent Hartinger

Most authors I know get depressed about piracy. I make my living from my books, and if people don’t buy them, I simply won’t make enough money to keep writing them.
It doesn’t help that piracy is basically impossible to fight, because the torrents pop up so quickly, and those torrents make it as difficult as possible to get your stuff taken down (seriously! It’s crazy).
Yes, I know there’s a spirited debate about whether piracy ends up helping some authors, or is at least a wash in the end, but I am extremely skeptical. Piracy has already destroyed the music and journalism industries, eliminating countless jobs, so I don’t see why it couldn’t kill my job too.
Anyway, that’s why it was such a pleasure to get this email over the holidays:
To Brent. Hi, I decided to write you this to apologize. You may ask for what and you also may not know what I’m talking about. I pirated some of your books over the summer  . I wanted to read them really badly and I didn’t have access to get them the proper way. So for that I apologize!
For Christmas I received gift cards. With them I purchased all of your books that I got originally illegally. I know it won’t make up for what I did and I know book piracy hurts the authors so that’s why I wanted to write you myself and apologize.
I’m a teen and I write as well (obviously not as good as you xD), so I felt extra bad since I was technically stealing from a fellow author. So for that again I’m sorry…
Doesn’t that restore your faith in humanity a little bit? What a good guy! Since I believe honesty should be rewarded, I offered to send him some signed copies of my books.
P.S. One of the many ironies about piracy is that I’m happy to send free copies of my books to people who want to read them but truly can’t afford them. I do it all the time, especially to teenagers and folks in poor countries. In return, I ask the recipients to “pay it forward” at some point in life, extending their generosity to someone else.

Brent Hartinger is the author of the gay teen classic Geography Club, which was adapted as a feature film in 2013. His latest book (which includes Geography Club's Russel Middlebrook as an adult) is The Otto Digmore Decision. Visit Brent at brenthartinger.com or on Twitter or Facebook.

The Otto Digmore Difference
The Otto Digmore Series Book 1
by Brent Hartinger
Genre: New Adult Humorous M/M Romance

“Road trip!”

Otto Digmore is a 26-year-old gay guy with dreams of being a successful actor, and he's finally getting some attention as a result of his supporting role on a struggling sitcom. But he's also a burn survivor with scars on half his face, and all indications are that he's just too different to ever find real Hollywood success.

Now he's up for an amazing new role that could change everything. Problem is, he and his best friend Russel Middlebrook have to drive all the way across the country in order to get to the audition on time.

It's hard to say which is worse: the fact that so many things go wrong, or that Russel, an aspiring screenwriter, keeps comparing their experiences to some kind of road trip movie.

There's also the fact that Otto and Russel were once boyfriends, and Otto is starting to realize that he might still have romantic feelings for his best friend.

Just how far will Otto go to get the role, and maybe the guy, of his dreams?

Author Brent Hartinger first introduced the character of Otto Digmore in 2005, in his Lambda Award-winning books about Russel Middlebrook. Back then, Otto was something pretty unusual for YA literature: a disabled gay character.

Now, more than a decade later, Otto is grown up and finally stepping into the spotlight on his own. The Otto Digmore Difference, the first book in a new stand-alone series for adults, is about much more than the challenges of being "different." It's also about the unexpected nature of all of life's journeys, and the heavy price that must be paid for Hollywood fame.

But more than anything, it's a different kind of love story, about the frustrating and fantastic power of the love between two friends.

The Otto Digmore Decision
The Otto Digmore Series Book 2

"If we get caught, they'll throw us in jail. On the other hand, we'll have been involved in one of the craziest Hollywood stories I've ever heard, and maybe someone will want to turn *that* into a movie!"

Otto Digmore is back, still trying to make it as an actor in Hollywood (despite his facial scars), but frustrated by all the schemers who'll stab you in the back to get ahead. But then Otto's good friend Russel Middlebrook sells a screenplay, a heist movie set in the Middle Ages — and Otto has been cast in an important supporting role! For twelve weeks, Otto and Russel will be on location together in England and Malta.

Problem is, once production is underway, it quickly becomes clear that the director is ruining Russel's script. If the movie ends up being the bomb that both Otto and Russel expect it to be, it could destroy both their Hollywood careers forever.

But Otto and Russel aren't willing to take that chance. Together, they hatch a crazy plan to make a good movie behind the director's back! But how far are they willing to go to save their careers? Are they willing to become exactly the kind of scheming backstabbers they always said they hated?

The Otto Digmore Decision is partly a caper story, partly a humorous Hollywood satire. It’s also an inside look at the struggles of anyone “different,” and it’s even something of a love story, except it’s one between two friends.

More than anything, The Otto Digmore Decision proves the old adage about creative pursuits: the most interesting drama always happens behind the scenes!

I am Brent Hartinger, a novelist and screenwriter. I've published fourteen novels, had nine screenplays optioned, and had two of my projects turned into feature films.

My first novel, GEOGRAPHY CLUB (2003), is the story of a gay teen named Russel Middlebrook. It was one of the first in a new wave of break-out LGBTQ young adult fiction, and it was adapted as a feature film in 2013. I subsequently wrote three more books about Russel, calling them The Russel Middlebrook Series. I tried to give these books a lot of humor and heart.

In 2013, I continued Russel's story as he grew up, into his twenties, in a new, stand-alone series called Russel Middlebook: The Futon Years. These books are "new adult" (making Russel one of very few literary characters to "jump" genres in projects created by the same author).

In 2017, I released a new, stand-alone series starring Russel's gay disabled friend Otto Digmore, called The Otto Digmore Series.

I love mysteries and thrillers. My 2016 gay teen puzzle box thriller THREE TRUTHS AND A LIE was nominated for an Edgar Award (this, and my 2005 novel GRAND & HUMBLE, are real mind-benders, trust me). My 2007 YA mystery, PROJECT PAY DAY, is much lighter, and has also been adapted as feature film (which I wrote), to be released in 2020.

Here are all my books:

THE OTTO DIGMORE SERIES
* The Otto Digmore Difference (book 1)
* The Otto Digmore Decision (book 2)

RUSSEL MIDDLEBROOK: THE FUTON YEARS
* The Thing I Didn't Know I Didn't Know (book #1)
* Barefoot in the City of Broken Dreams (book #2)
* The Road to Amazing (book #3)

THE RUSSE MIDDLE BROOK SERIES
* Geography Club (book #1)
* The Order of the Poison Oak (book #2)
* Double Feature: Attack of the Soul-Sucking Brain Zombies/Bride of the Soul-Sucking Brain Zombies (book #3)
* The Elephant of Surprise (book #4)
* Two Thousand Pounds Per Square Inch (a free short story)

MY OTHER BOOKS
* Project Pay Day
* Three Truths and a Lie
* Grand & Humble
* Shadow Walkers

I also love to travel. In fact, I no longer have a home. Instead, I travel the world indefinitely with my husband, writer Michael Jensen, moving to a new country every few months. You can follow our "digital nomad" journey at BrentandMichaelAreGoingPlaces.com

I try hard to write books that are page-turners, and movies that are fast-paced and accessible. If I had to describe my own writing projects, I would say, "Strong central concept, strong plot, strong character and voice."

Basically, I see myself as a storyteller. But I think "story" is a lot more than "beautiful language" or complicated camera angles, which I often find self-indulgent and distracting. In most cases, I think the important thing for a writer or filmmaker is to get out of the way and just tell the damn story.

I answer all questions, so feel free to contact me on social media, or through my website: BrentHartinger.com

Cheers!

Second Chances by Larry Yoke Genre: Romance Fiction

Second Chances is an adult fiction romance novel: Hunter O’Conner has a rough childhood, so it’s not surprising when he turns down the wrong path.
Growing up with an abusive father, we can’t help but feel sorry for him and wish, as he does, that “Mr. Wilson was his father” instead. He’s not, but this father figure helps teach Hunter some lessons which will ultimately help him turn his life around when he gets a proverbial “second chance.” It is a captivating story that teaches us it’s never too late to change and do the right thing.

He has been writing short stories and poems since a child. Now his writing entertains and contains current social messages taken from the pages of today’s headlines. His poetry and books have won national awards in 2018, 2019 and his writings have seen their way into several anthologies. He has proven his mettle as an established author worthy of reading.
